Noble Falls Waterfall and Walking Trail

Noble Falls

Spring is often the best time to see the various waterfalls around Perth. With this in mind, I recently took a visit to Noble Falls.

While there, I decided to have a walk around the walking trail to take a look.

Getting To Noble Falls

Noble Falls is located near Gidgegannup, 45 kilometres to the North East of Perth. It is located along Toodyay Road, and as a result, the easiest way to get there is to drive.

Coming from Perth, you will find Noble Falls about 5 kilometres past Gidgegannup. Just lookout for the signage to the picnic area which will be on your left.

Noble Falls

In the scheme of things, Noble Falls is a fairly small waterfall. Certainly, it is smaller than other waterfalls around Perth, such as Serpentine or Lesmurdie Falls. Still, it is picturesque in its own way. A visit in late winter or early September will see the water flow at its best. Spring should also bring out the wildflowers in the area.

The Falls

As mentioned, the falls are on the smaller side. Having said that, they do have a picturesque quality about them. The falls form part of Woorooloo Brook. The water runs down the Darling Scarp before joining up with the Avon River.

Walking Trails

There are 2 walk trails at Noble Falls. Firstly, there is a short 1.3 km loop. Secondly, there is a longer 3.5 km loop. The two trails cover some of the same paths, although the longer path splits off and heads further north than the shorter loop.

They are both fairly gentle walks, on purpose-built trails.

To head off on the trails, find the sign around the picnic area. The two trails leave from here, and the rough mud map shows the main difference. The short trail is basically a loop around the falls area, while the longer trail takes you further along the Brook.

The sign has a basic mud map showing the two options. If in doubt, you could always take a picture of the map to refer to later.

Once you are across the bridge, you immediately find yourself at the feature you’re here for – Noble Falls.

You will come to a decision point. The long trail or the short trail. If you take the short trail, you will cross a bridge, and circle back to the falls.

It may however be worth considering a third option. If you are inclined to do the short walk, it may be worth considering continuing briefly on the longer walk. I suggest this as the long walk takes you past a ford, which may be interesting to some.

As you continue along the trail, you will eventually arrive at Kooringal Vale Road. This is a sealed road that you follow until you reach its intersection with Brennan Rise. You then cross a road bridge, before heading back toward the falls.

Picnic Area

There is a bit of a picnic area at the falls. Among the amenities on offer are some tables, and a children’s’ playground.

Final Thoughts

Noble Falls is a small area east of Perth. It is certainly smaller than some other falls, but it has its own attractions. The walking trail is fairly gentle, and most people would likely be able to complete it.
