Not too far from Dunsborough, you find The Pullman Bunker Bay Resort. Having decided on a weekend away from the city, I thought it might be a good place for an overnight stay. I was not disappointed.
Pullman Bunker Bay Resort
Location
The resort sits on 35 acres of landscaped gardens at Bunker Bay. It boasts beachfront views, with the beach being a short stroll from the hotel. It is on the road out toward the Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse.
Getting There
I did the drive from Perth straight down to Pullman Bunkers Bay Resort. It’s a pretty straightforward drive and takes about 3 hours.
Arrival and Checking In
Complimentary Parking is provided on-site. Which is a good thing – there is not much else around. Once parked, it was down to check-in and on to my room.
At check-in, they gave me a map to the room. The offered a buggy ride to the room, but I declined, preferring to find my own way there. It could be an adventure in itself!
The Rooms
The resort features 150 bungalow-style villas. They come in a range of configurations, with a choice of studio or one, two and three-bedroom. In my case, I was assigned a two-bedroom apartment.
The villas are quite spacious, or at least mine was. Entering the villa, you see the open living area and a well-equipped kitchenette. With its high ceilings, the Villa did give you the feeling of space – certainly not one of this little hotel rooms. There was room to spread out and move around.
Around The Hotel
The resort features a number of recreational activities. As you would expect it has a swimming pool. There is also Vie Spa, and a tennis court if you are feeling that energetic.

Meals
While the room had a small kitchenette, where you could prepare meals, I wasn’t here to cook. So, I thought I’d try out the hotel’s offerings.
There are basically two choices. The hotel’s restaurant is ‘The Other Side Of The Moon’, and there is the Lounge Bar.
The Other Side of the Moon serves international cuisine, with a Mediterranean influence. In contrast, the Lounge Bar serves a range of lighter meals.
I opted to have my dinner at the Lounge Bar. I chose the Crab Linguine, accompanied by Manjimup chips with black garlic aioli.
I had prepaid breakfast, so in the morning headed to the restaurant. Pretty standard buffet-style breakfast, although you can get to sit outside. Just be careful if you do. The seagulls are sneaky and will pinch your breakfast if you are not paying attention.
All in all, a good stay. I’ll be back.
